BRaS offers two publication formats: Blog and Journal, both registered with an ISSN. Each publication undergoes a rigorous review process and is widely disseminated within the academic community, ensuring that the content reaches a broad audience. Learn a quick overview of each.

Blog publication

The Blog format is ideal for sharing concise and accessible articles that reach a wide audience. The texts links are often shared on major social media platforms, ensuring a broad and impactful reach. The format is perfect for presenting quick research findings, opinion essays, and discussions on political, social, economic, and cultural topics in Brazil.  Learn more.

Blog submission guidelines at a glance

  • Length: 1000–1300 words.
  • Format: Clear, direct, and adapted for a general audience.
  • Requirements:  Text in Word format and original content.
  • Eligibility: Open to all authors, regardless of academic background, and allows multiple authors.
  • Costs: No APC (no author publication costs)
  • Timeframe: From submission to publication, the process typically takes 2 to 6 weeks. This includes receiving the work, reviewing, and approving it for publication.

Journal publication

BraS-J

The Journal format is designed for full-length, original works written in English. Submissions can include research articles, book reviews, or dossiers. All manuscripts are reviewed by two independent blind reviewers and must adhere to the standards of academic writing. The Journal has five specialized sections, each managed by expert editors, ensuring a focused and high-quality review process.

Journal submission guidelines at a glance

  • Length: Up to 10,000 words (research articles) or 3,000 words (book reviews).
  • Format: Academic structure with abstracts, keywords, and references per the Chicago Manual of Style (17th Edition).
  • Blind Review:  Submissions undergo evaluation by two independent blind reviewers. Please ensure your manuscript is submitted without any identifying information to maintain impartiality in the review process.
  • Indexing: All published texts are indexed in major academic databases.
  • Eligibility: At least one author must hold a PhD/Dr. title.
  • Costs: No APC (no author publication costs).
  • Timeframe: The process takes a minimum of 6 months from submission to publication, and may take longer depending on the specificity and complexity of the article
